Hip hop beats vs. melody vs. harmony

Hello everyone! How are you? How you feeling today? Let’s continue to talk about hip hop! Today is the day; I want to talk about old style hip hop and new style. Since the beginning of the hip hop much has changed nowadays. Today hip hop is different and has much more effects and modernity included.

As technology has developed a lot, hip hop beats background has develop not less. Remember hip hop in early 90’s? The background was basically of beats, drums and bass. Everyone like it and that was the super beat.

Check out this video as an example.

That’s is the old school hip hop. Hip hop artists created rapping speech, hip hop flow on same beats. That was cool, wasn’t it?

But let’s look today at the modern hip hop. As I mentioned before technology has developed. So everything must become more modern. To make hip hop more attractive and interesting, the best thing is to include special effects in hip hop background. That will highlight melody, harmony and song.

I like to call modern hip hop today instrumental hip hop, because live instruments, guitars, keyboards, and effect machines are included in to the background. These instruments make hip hop more modern to young audience. We always need to think of something new to offer the public. The rule is simple – discover something new, unprecedented and bring to the world. As we know world loves novation. Check out the new computers like MacBooks, Ipads and all that stuff. It’s all required today. And people love those technologies.

The same issue is with the hip hop. New melodies, harmonies, live instruments, vocals and even choir makes it sounds modern. People like it and they want some more.

I see that popular artists like Akon, Nelly, Wiz Khalifa and others follow that strategy. Maybe some of them prefer pop more than hip hop, but I see hip hop is their basic music genre.

Wiz Khalifa is the example of Instrumental or modern hip hop styles.

But let’s not forget about the old school hip hop beats. That’s the old pioneer that must be respected and never forget.

Let’s listen to old and new hip hop.

Cheers!
